A blend of two carefully chosen ingredients, beer and tremors (Beben) make up "DAS BIERBEBEN", first brewed to perfection in 2000 AD. Initially formed to resurrect a fistful of German punk singles from oblivion, the full impact of this alcohol-fuelled quake could be first experienced in their debut 7" "DIE BIRNE IST REIF".
Leaving these well-trodden paths for a more electronic direction, the following years saw the Bierbeben collective consort with jack-of-all-trades producer Thies Mynther who in turn left his nervous touch and all-knowing mark on the band's electric and eclectic output. Contrary to public perception, it was an anonymous demo that brought them to the attention of Berlin Techno haven Shitkatapult where they continue to broadcast their sloganised truths.
During most of this extended spell, Das Bierbeben's vocal duties were handled by siren-sweet amazons Julia Wilton and Jessica Drosten. While bouts of basketball kept the band in shape, their aural appearance took a turn for the darker sides of human existence.
Over the years, and after a few forays into purely project-based exercises, DAS BIERBEBEN have gradually reverted back to a more traditional band set-up, including the staples of drums, guitars, bass and a few other trinkets lost and found in their studio surroundings.
While the current line-up features Julia Wilton, Jan Müller, Rasmus Engler and Alexander Tsitsigias, Das Bierbeben remain part of the "Artist Group in the Name of the People".
